厄除け "avoiding bad luck"

My parents and I went to 厄除け (yakuyoke).



One more year for my parents, two more years for me. 厄年(yakudoshi = unlucky years) would go for three years.



When I went to Kyoto earlier this month, I took おみくじ (omikuji = written oracle) and it was 凶 (kyou) which is very bad. But after I went to the shrine and got お守り (omamori = an amulet) I got 小吉 (syoukichi) which is so so. :) So I believe the お守り working.
